Repeat Prescriptions

A repeat prescription is for a medicine which you need to take on an ongoing basis, as authorised by your Doctor.

To request your repeat prescription online,you will need a user ID and password. Please contact the surgery to find out how arrange this.

Alternatively, you may make your request by phoning the dispensary, by post or fax or by dropping your repeat prescription slip in the box in reception

Please allow 2 working days for repeat prescription requests to be processed.

We are generally able to dispense medicines from each Surgery, except for patients who live within one mile of a chemist (this is due to a legal restriction).

Prescription Charges

There is an NHS prescription charge of £7.10 (correct August 2008) for each item, although some people are exempt. More information about exemption

If you have to pay for your prescriptions, a prepayment 'Season Ticket' will save you money if you need more than 5 items in 4 months or more than 14 items in a year. To buy a 'Season Ticket', you need form FP95 which can be downloaded from www.ppa.org.uk.

A small number of medicines are not NHS prescribable. These so-called "private prescriptions" can be taken to a pharmacy, where the full cost of the medicine will be payable.
